The Wayne County YMCA offers classes for all ages, all levels and all interests. From low-impact exercise and chair classes, stretching and strength training to indoor cycling, water exercise, and yoga, you’ll find a group class that’s fun, supportive and keeps you moving.

We all need the advice of an expert sometimes, as well as the personal attention that comes with a trainer or coach. Y's offer personal training and coaching to help you set and meet your specific goals in order to live healthier.

Health Coach


The consultation consists of two meetings. During your initial consultation, your health coach will conduct a life style assessment and discuss your goals and current state of health.On your follow up appointment you will receive a step by step program with your specific needs in mind. Together you will choose the order you prefer to start enhancing your health so you can celebrate your life.You may decide you don’t need another session or you may set up your sessions weekly, monthly, quarterly or just when you need more support, motivation or goals.The Health Coach will focus on you – where you are and where you want to go concerning your health and life.It’s your choice and the coach’s goal is to guide you in the right direction.

In the Cardiac Direction

“In the Cardiac Direction” is an individualized exercise program for the prevention of heart disease. This is a flexible program in the proper mode, intensity, duration, frequency, and progression to ensure each participant’s cardiovascular fitness without exceeding the safe limits of exercise.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY MANAGEMENT FOR SENIORS

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

EnhanceFitness at the YMCA is a proven community-based senior fitness and arthritis management program. Its purpose is to help older adults become more active, energized and empowered for independent living.

EnhanceFitness has been nationally recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Administration on Aging and the National Council on Aging.

The program consists of low impact exercise classes that are safe and challenging for older adults of all fitness levels . . . from active to less fit or frail.

EnhanceFitness exercises focus on increasing cardiovascular endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility, which can help reduce arthritis symptoms. A certified instructor leads classes at a pace that works for each participant.

Classes are held in a relaxed atmosphere that promotes fun and laughter and provides lots of opportunities for the social interaction that is vital to senior health and well-being.

COST

This is a free program. Each participant will also have a free membership at not cost! Space is limited for each session to allow for a low EnhanceFitness at the YMCA instructor-to-participant ratio.
